You should check the size and importance of all the apps present on your iPhone and delete all the large and unused apps. To delete apps on the iPhone
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap General.
- Tap [Device] Storage.
- Select the app you want to delete.
- Tap Delete the app.
- Tap Delete to confirm that you want to delete the app.
Clear history and caches
Just like a computer, too much cache data can slow down your iPhone. You should clean your history and cache occasionally by going to Settings >Safari > Clear History.
In different iOS versions, you might have to follow different series of steps to clear history like on iPhone 4S running on iOS 8.4 – Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data or Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data.
By clearing the website data, all data will be cleared from your web browser history. It will also delete all your login credentials so it is advised if you store login information in iCloud Keychain before clearing history and caches.
Backup your music and games on iCloud
The major reason behind running a slow iPhone is gadgets getting out of space. Mostly videos, games, and audio are the three main reasons behind phones getting overloaded. So, to make some space on your iPhone, you should upload your gaming apps and media files on your iCloud and iTunes accounts. When you have backed up your favorite apps and media files on the cloud, then you can delete them from your iPhone to make some free space.

Update to new iOS apps
When you update to the latest version of iOS, you should update your apps according to the software update. However, if the original version of iOS on your iPhone is later than iOS 7, then the latest version of iOS can speed up your iPhone more as compared to the older iPhone. To check the original version of iOS, you have to go to Settings > General > Software Update.
Deactivate Unused Features
iPhone and iPad come packed full of features but not all of those features are utilized by you. Some of those features despite the fact they are not used or very rarely. To do that, simply go to the Settings menu and deactivate whichever feature you feel is not used.

- However, if you are using an iPhone X, then the Volume Up and Down buttons should be pressed together.
Turn off the background app refresh

This automatic feature can slow down your iPhone speed even if you are running it on the latest iOS 17. And you need to turn off the background app refresh option to improve the speed of your iPhone.
To turn off the background app fresh:
- Go to settings.
- Tap on General.
- Scroll down and tap on the background app refresh.
- Toggle Background App Refresh off.
Along with this option, you can disable the Auto-Update feature on your iPhone. To turn it off, go to iTunes & App Store” and turn off the options below “Automatic Downloads”. The reason behind doing this is that automatic update consumes more memory and slow down the phone.
Disable location tracking
The Location services mostly chew up battery life more than performance,. Well if your iOS device is draining its battery at faster you need either cut down on the number of apps using your device’s GPS to request your location. or completely disable location tracking by following the steps below.
Settings > Privacy > Location Services to adjust the settings for all of your apps that use location services.
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on Privacy.
- Select Location Services.
- In the next menu, toggle Location Services at the top. That’s it.
