If it’s stuck on getting your update ready on 0% it is common that the gpupdate.exe process is in the wait chain. Just kill gpupdate.exe
This is the issue I’m having–Getting your Update ready at 0%. However, I don’t see gpupdate.exe in Services.
I have been trying to update for months and just found what worked was to simply unplug my Logitech dongle for my wireless keyboard and mouse and I no longer got the blue screen of death at 60-75% and revert back to old version after an hour and a half each time. Hope that’s really what the issue was and hope this helps someone else as I could not find any solution online.
Tried all of these methods but my Alienware laptop is corrupted beyond my ability to repair. The 1903 update files I get are just over 8GB with every download (except for the iso for clean update). My computer doesn’t have DSIM at all anymore (unknown as to why). sfc/scannow results in errors but doesn’t tell what they are and the log doesn’t say properly either. Can’t do the clean install as the BIOS doesn’t have anything outside of IPv4 and IPv6 Networking as an option, no USB at all. The laptop itself doesn’t have a DVD/CD drive. I’m stuck with version 1803 and a laptop that constantly downloads the new version and restarts at the most inappropriate times. During gaming sessions and while watching movies.
I tried to update to Windows 10 1903, now my laptop constantly start and reboot every 30 seconds. It is stuck in a loop, can’t get to start windows in safe mode even.
All I get is Lenovo name on the black screen when it starts, then I get the turning dots, then the message “ undoing the changes”. After 30 seconds, it reboots and restarts. I left it for 24 hours doing it. No idea what to do to at least recover my files. I seriously can’t believe that I lost my laptop because of an update!!! Thanks Microsoft!
Windows 10 update assistant was stuck at 0% and I saw in taskmanager that, although I had disabled my antivirus Total AV, that there was a Total AV process active using a lot of cpu cycles so I killed it and the update started downloading.
Appreciated, but none of this helped me.
I was forced to backup all of my data while working on a very busy week schedule, then send my laptop to maintenace to format my drive, just because microsoft wants to shove useless shiny features down my throat and control how I use my device… lovely user experience.
